The Reading Nook!

Writer's picture: Deborah Jean Brock-ArnoldDeborah Jean Brock-Arnold

This project is something I've wanted to do since we moved in!My husband and I decided to use this space as a reading nook and we got to work. Inspired by a project one of my high school students did, I quickly learned from her how to make these paper flowers. To give the project substance, I used recycled books that are also on the banned book list for high school reading to make the flowers. I read all of these in high school and love them (Call of the Wild, To Kill A Mockingbird, The Catcher in the Rye, Of Mice and Men to name a few...) I had alot of decorative paper so I covered foam board using #Modpodge and mounted the flowers using t-pins. Together we built this bookshelf from galvanized piping and wood. My husband cut and I stained natural pine wood. Putting together the piping and getting it on the wall was not an easy task, but he did an amazing job!! A few more details to add like new lighting (which I am making) and of course our books! But, I'm so excited I had to share this now!
